Connecticut Coalition to Save Darfur

The Promise

More information about The Promise is available from its official web site, www.dhsthepromise.com.

Six students at Danbury High School have created a video entitled The Promise about the genocide in Darfur.

The video is available at no cost (information below) in DVD format.

Tim Salem, Multi-Cultural Educator and Assistant Principal at Danbury High School, helped the students create the video and is available along with some of the students to make presentations before groups interested in learning about the situation in Darfur along with what they can do.

The video is based on the concept of the promise of "Never Again" made in the aftermath of the Holocaust. Fast forward 60 years and the "promise" has yet to be fulfilled as we see another genocide unfold before our eyes. The video was made to raise awareness by drawing people in emotionally and appealing to their humanitarian instincts.

People who watch the video they will want to learn more about how to be a part of the solution to the ominous cycle of genocide. The script, pictures and music were selected and pieced together over the course of three months. A half-dozen Danbury High School students helped in gathering resources. Tim Salem supervised the students and helped create the actual video.

Some of the pictures are tough to look at but the grim reality coincides with the theme of trying to get "The Promise" fulfilled.
